Prof. Dr.-lng. Bernhard Wielage is awarded honorary chair of the Joint Committee on Composite Materials, 28.06.2019, Kaiserslautern (Germany)

The German Materials Society (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Materialkunde e.V.) awards Prof. Dr.-lng. Bernhard Wielage the dignity of Honorary Chairman of the Joint Committee on Composite Materials in recognition of his outstanding services to composite materials and his commitment to the development of the Joint Committee on Composite Materials for more than 45 years.

Prof. Wielage founded the Composites Committee in 2003, which since then has been responsible for the organisation and implementation of the Symposium "Composites and Composite Materials" (Verbundwerkstoffe und Werkstoffverbunde), which has been held every two years in the German-speaking area and is highly esteemed - since 1974 initially under the sole leadership of the DGM and also with the active participation of Prof. Wielage. From 2003 to 2015 he chaired this committee. During this period he has continuously developed the symposium, which is a highly recognized trend-setting component of the German-language conference structure. Thanks to his expertise and diplomatic approach, he has always succeeded in effectively uniting a large number of materials science and engineering oriented associations, such as DVS, DGG, DKG, CCev, etc., as well as the DGM, in the Joint Committee on Composite Materials.
