Editorial

The areas of responsibility of the DGM expert committees and working groups reflect contemporary social challenges. This now applies not in the least to the key topic "environment" - even if the general public is not immediately aware that, for example, the development of high-temperature materials makes a central contribution to the reduction of greenhouse gases. The benefits of lightweight construction materials in the transport sector are already rather catchy. And every schoolchild knows that without "recycling" we would have long since been lost in mountains of rubbish.
